PRIORITIES. DEMANDS. BLUEPLRINT: UNCOMPROMISING

Outlined below are key priorities we believe are critical to the university’s sustained advancement:

  1. Attaining Carnegie R2 Classification


    Prioritize and invest in faculty- and student-led research, secure competitive research funding, and cultivate robust research partnerships.

  2. Institutional Brand Integrity and Consistency


    Establish, implement, and rigorously enforce comprehensive branding standards across all platforms—apparel, print and digital communications, and more. 

  3. Modernization and Expansion of Academic Offerings


    Introduce and grow graduate-level programs, including additional master’s and doctoral degrees, aligned with workforce demands and academic innovation. Ensure transparency and strategic alignment across all satellite campuses—such as the Cordele Center—by clearly communicating their distinct program roles, offerings, and contributions to the university’s academic ecosystem.

  4. Strengthening Financial Sustainability and Endowment Growth


    Cultivate diverse funding streams and implement strategies for a substantial increase in the university’s endowment (i.e., a comprehensive capital campaign). Reinforce efficacious leadership, sound organizational structure, and operational effectiveness in the Office of Institutional Advancement and the University Foundation to ensure strategic alignment and long-term fiscal health.

  5. Enhanced Transitional Pathways from Associate to Bachelor’s Degrees


    Develop intentional and supportive programming that builds scholars and facilitates seamless academic progression.

  6. Building Culture and Revitalizing Freshmen Orientation Programming


    Instill institutional pride by integrating ASU’s rich history, legacy of excellence, pre-alumni engagements, and consistently, thoroughly, and innovatively stressing the importance of philanthropic support into early student experiences. Place a significant emphasis on strengthening ASU’s culture.

  7. Increased Focus on Retention and Graduation Metrics


    Monitor and proactively address factors affecting student persistence and timely degree completion.

  8. Campus Safety, Security, and Visitation


    Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive campus environment for all university community members. Provide a campus-friendly environment for visitors and individuals with disabilities.

  9. Strategic Community and Alumni Engagement


    Foster open communication, celebrate successes, and actively engage alumni and community stakeholders in university life. 

  10. Rebuilding Trust Among Alumni and Community Stakeholders


    Ensure transparency in donations through frequent standardized financial reports and implement intentional outreach efforts to buttress engagement with alumni and supporters, engendering a culture of trust and inclusion.

  11. Institutional Professionalism and Service Excellence


    Establish a standard of responsive, courteous service across all university departments, prioritizing prompt communication, and a culture of professionalism reflecting Albany State University’s values and dignity.

  12. Assessment and Credentialing of Academic and Administrative Personnel


    Conduct a thorough audit of staff and faculty qualifications to ensure personnel are appropriately aligned, credentialed, and experienced with institutional goals and standards of excellence.
